I refer to Chris Turner’s posting of 8th February reference the 740 receiver of which I have a good example. The front panel was removed to facilitate the installation of a replacement, as new, half moon dial plus a replacement finger plate both supplied to me by the EUG. I have had it in mind to try and sell the receiver on the basis of the buyer doing the reassembly work. However, if Chris has not presently completed the work he has been carrying out for a friend, I was wondering if there might be interest in buying my 740 ? If this is not the case, might Chris be interested in reassembling my receiver in return for an agreed remuneration ? I am located in the town of Buckingham. Thank you for considering this posting. Is the receiver for sale by Peter of Bedfordshire just listed really a model 840, and not a 940 ??
Sure looks a lot like my 940. Just wondering.

I am helping a friend to restore his model 740 receiver. The dial mechanism has been modified and/or has bits replaced. Can anyone help me with an exploded drawing and or photgraphs of the flywheel and gear assembly. I am particularly interested in bushes and spacers on the tuning shaft / flywheel and on the fine tune display disc. The shaft on the fine tune display disc has been modified and it scrapes on the back of the front panel.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    • Chris, there are a couple of articles in the restoration section of the website on the eddystone dial mechanisms and the 740.

I have just been given a 750, and it has a wee problem. The guide on the front has stopped moving, the dial cable is broken. Because the wrong type of bulbs where fitted.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of a source of bulbs for the display.

    Thanks
