Hi,
Can anyone advise me on this. I have a really nice 870A. Looks pretty untouched, and in lovelly condition. I’ve not had to touch it. Only thing is, it gets really hot.
Is that normal. all works great, no issues, just gets really hot.
Thanks in advance.
Andy
1Does anybody have a recommended supplier of valves?
2Hi Chris, there’s a few dealers on eBay that sell unused old stock. UAF42s, DM70s, ULF1s, UY41s etc… all common valves at least.
regards, Derek
3Hello, I recently acquired a 940 that doesnt work on bands 1 & 2. In looking it over I see it has a CV453 (6BE6) in the top socket of T2 which I think should be the socket for the Crystal XL1. Its listed in the manual as style E 450KHz device. Is the crystal in the T2 can or plugged in do you know? This valve doesnt get warm (stays cold) as it doesnt have a heater feed that I can see. The heater has continuity and heats fine when plugged into V8’s socket. All very odd to me, it seems like its been got at in the past thought the rest of the set is jolly nice. The plan view of the receiver in the circuit diagram shows T2 but not whats plugged into it! Can anyone help on this question please? Many thanks, George

5Hello all, I am an Eddystone fan ( if that is the right word), I have an Eddystone S640 vintage April 1947 that I am attempting to restore. In the past I have had Eddystone receivers and recently my interest has been revived. My call sign is 2W0HOH – I am 81 years old. Believe it or not a fellow amateur yesterday gave me an Eddystone EC10 that looks immaculate but only works at low volume. I can attempt repairs on valve radio but solid state transistorised is beyond me. Is there anyone that can sort out the EC10 at reasonable cost? Any help really appreciated
6Regards to all
Peter
P.S. My history of previous call signs (VS9AGA, VS9KGA) is on QRZ
