I noticed this on ebay. “it does look like Eddystone construction. Is this a significant piece of kit in terms of rarity or from a technical perspective?

    • This is a PO type 34 noise measuring receiver designed by the post office and made by Hatfield instruments. Often confused as an Eddystone set as they did same with the Type 31A which was a VHF set also designed by post office.

    Hi All-

i am about to break 2 Eddystone Panadapters for spares, ep14 and ep15. i am looking to salvage parts for building audio amps, –transformers, chokes, caps, tube bases etc.

Am I doing the right thing or are these more use to eddystone collectors- Maybe from your point of view they are peripheral junk, and if so- all the better as I can proceed with the dismantling with a clear heart, but I thought I should mention it here first

Hello, so I have a rather nice though slightly dusty 840A. I also have a spare for parts. Problem is the parts I need are not on either ie antennna selector plug. i think I have speaker plugs to put on the bare wires. On the mains side I notice the lower male pin is missing it’s right side. Question is are any of these available ?
    Thanks in expectation

Hello, I’m recently retired and finally have time to devote to things I want to do, one being valve wireless refurbishment. Back in the early 70’s I was initially training for a career as a radio officer but changed to telecomm’s and then onto radio,tv and electronics. My working career of some 45 years was initially in the area of servicing and then teacher education and my particular field of expertise was in microteaching and audio-visual support to those less gifted in the art of technology. I’ve been a licensed radio amateur since ’77 and hold the call EI7DF.

Roddy- I note the Irish callsign and thought you might be interested to know I hold the entire valve stock of the Late Rupert Loftus Brigham, of “Ruperts Vintage Wireless” fame. Shop was located in Ealing west london in the 1980’s . I bought some 20,000 to 25,000 valves in approx 1987 and have them in a shed in Ireland since. I have started testing , and catalogueing should you need any valves. This is not a shameless self promotion but putting the info out there.
