A friend of mine is moving house and has found her husbands Eddystone EP20 Receiver and I am trying to help her to see if anybody is interested in buying it from her. It is boxed and in good condition.

Hi Chris
5Like the Updated Eddystone Website and your comments upon My Eddystone 7000 Orion Transceiver Aug 20th today
Which I was the buyer of from Radioworlds EBAY Auction on ending Tuesday last..
I have a small collection of Eddystones EC10,s Etc But mainly at this point in time collect
rarer HF Ssb Transceivers and was drawn to the Orion 7000 ..
It will be here in Bewdley Tomorrow 21st Aug via UPS and I will appraise it for My Website.
and let you all know how it performs ..
I see it has some 40metre freqs programmed . and hope I can find away of changing some chans to other Amateur hf bands …I do however understand from your comments that This might be difficult to achieve as it maybe code protected ..
Still it looks a very interesting set to add to the collection….
Does anyone know of other 7000,s already in use by radio amateurs of th EUG ?
Any other Orion service information would be greatly received please .
ps Paypal had given me a voucher offer of ten percent off so I saved 30 pounds off the purchase price
Dave Hicks g8epr Bewdley Worcs..
Congratulations Dave on your purchase. I will have a look in my files to see if I can find anything about re-programming it. The only other set I know of in private hands is with Alan Ainslie (of Eddystone ARchive and Museum fame). I know I dont have a service manual but I guess it came with an operators and installation manual. There is one on the website I think. Good luck with it. You will miss the tuning knob. 73s Chris G0EYO
6Ok Chris
7Thanks for looking ..
But I have read the manual that came with the Orion 7000 and The Reprogramme of
Factory Password Page is there
The Set has never been reprogrammed as Password was still the factory default 4 figure no as stated in the manual
So I am very lucky to have now been able to reprogramme the 99 chans to a selection on all the hf amateur bands
Unfortunatly the Fist Mic is A coffin shaped and marked CB Radio mic
But the Orion works really well on general coverage receive.. and complements
the Motorola Micom /Barrett2050 /Sgc2020 /Icom Icm802 /JRC125 /Transworld TW100/TW7000 Hf Transceivers already in my collection .
Cheers Chris and other members of The EUG …
Great site, and very useful as I have my first Eddystone a 680X plus matching speaker. All downloads most helpful but Technical shorts number 13 (aerial matching) unfortunately fails to download, thanks Chris
8will check that out Chris. Chris G0EYO
9Chris reference Tech shorts 13 download issue, the word “download” next to it has two d’s i.e. ddownload!
10Could this be the problem? Cheers Chris
I think I have fixed it now. My first attempt failed and resulted in two dd’s at front of download. WordPress takes a bit of getting used to.
11Regards
Chris
I have an EA12 and a 888A. both have some backlash in the tuning that is noticeable with the selectivity at max. Although in a past life I had to repair and calibrate Eddystone receivers professionally and the first G3ZVC transceiver used an 898 dial I do not remember how much backlash there might have been. Should I expect some backlash. Am I expecting to much from these old receivers in today’s world of shaft encoders.
Best regards Brian KF6C G3ZVC.
