I repaired my first Eddystone 820A last week. It came in with no power and after downloading the circuit I noticed the filaments were in a series/parallel system due to it being an AC/DC set with no power transformer. After removing all the valves I confirmed there was no open circuit filament.I took on board someones comment that it would be better to connect the radio to 110 volt using a drop down transformer. I then decided to check the line for resistance and found it to open circuit right at the beginning, the indicator bulb. The radio worked once it was replaced. My question is, has anyone inserted a resistor in parallel so tha if the bulb failed again in the future, the radio would still function ?

1Sorry, 840A.

Hi, I have just got an EB35 radio that is dead. it goes pop when i turn the power on so it has power. It is quiet as a mouse other than this.

how do i go about getting parts for this unit or should i just not worry.
Great web site. I have looked at all the info but is there any one that can help me with a restore for this radio please.

I have an Eddystone 750 which I’d like to dispose of. The good news is that it’s free to a collector but the bad news is that it’s in pieces. I’d asked a friend to recondition it but he died after disassembly; it’s been sitting in my workshop waiting patiently for me to retire and get on with it, but I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just not going to happen.
I live in Germany but will be driving to the UK in July. Possible collection points are Kingston, Surrey (we have a flat there), Shepperton (a daughter) and Ponteland, Newcastle (sister-in-law).
We drive to the UK on 11th July for 3 weeks. First come, first served.

This might be the second time you receive this because I had a short power cut!
I like your website, having read about it in RSGB’s RadCom Magazine. I have an Eddystone EC10 Transistor Communications Receiver that I bought over 40 years ago and I am still using it. I bought it in Melbourne to replace my then short wave radio, an ex RAAF AR7 Communications receiver. I believe that the EC10 was Eddystone’s first fully transistorised communications receiver. I still think it is a great little radio.
7I have found an Eddystone type 750 in my fathers garage. Its very rusty and is for sale.
8Anyone in the York area interested ? I am based in Malton. Dont want much for it but it needs a new home
Thanks
