Eddystone 840C for Sale

November 15, 2019 By: chris Category: For Sale

Rod Palmer in Bridgend, South Wales, has an Eddystone 840C (AC/DC) receiver for sale. This was family owned from new and operated by one of the World’s last deep sea salvage divers as his window on the World during long spells at sea. The receiver is complete with power connector plug (no lead) and although not tested recently it was working when returned from a final spell at sea.

There is some superficial rust staining to the rear vent panels and other minor rust specks/areas to other parts of the cabinet (see pics). Detailed close-ups of all areas of the cabinet can be provided to any interested parties. Although the rear panel screws move freely, we’re unwilling to try to remove the rear panel due to interference from minor rusting so cannot comment on, or photograph, the interior. It is normally stored in what appears to be the original cardboard shipping case within a stout, custom-made canvas tote with rope handles. Price: £195. If you are interested contact Rod on

rodney_palmer@hotmail.com

S659/670 handle screws wanted

November 04, 2019 By: chris Category: Wanted

Nick Van Vonno in Melbourne, Florida finally located a S.659/670 to replace the one he let get away a long time ago. It was shipped from UK and arrived in pretty good shape, but one of the handles was broken off.  This involved breakage of both screws, which Nick considers was  a carefully thought out way of limiting the damage to the front panel. The handle on Nick’s set is not damaged, however he can’t locate the two brass replacement screws so is appealing for help from the Eddystone User Group to find him some. If you can help Nick contact him on nvv@cfl.rr.com

A great deal of Eddystone equipment is still in use by those who appreciate the looks, the classic mechanical and electrical design, and the superb operating “feel” of these radios.  For over 50 years, the Eddystone brand was the radio of choice for Governments, Armed Forces and Maritime Services worldwide. Please use this site for discussion, reminiscences, anecdotes, sales and wants, indeed anything relating to Eddystone equipment and associated topics.

EUG Forum moving from Yahoo groups to Group.io

October 16, 2019 By: chris Category: News

We are in the process of moving the Eddystone User Group Forum from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io

The reasons are many, but since finding we could no longer access our photos on Yahoo and finding a statement that Yahoo will no longer be accepting content after October 21st and will be deleting all content on December 14, like many others before us we decided to make the move. Groups.io offers better features and is easier to use – plus no advertisements ever (they are committed to a “Freemium” business model).

All of our content will be copied to the new service (messages, photos, etc.) and of course the list of subscribers (members). However Yahoo Groups has been very unreliable lately. Groups.io  will do their best, but there is a good chance that they may not be able to transfer all of our messages, photos or files. They will tell me which ones they were not able to transfer. The transfer may take some days as they are very busy with transfers at the moment.

The new site is here if you want to take a look, but none of our content has been copied there yet except for the home page I created:
